Additional Needs
Inclusive support tailored to every child’s unique journey.
Supporting Every Child's Journey
Mi Nurseries welcomes families who have children who may need additional support to reach their full potential. We believe that every child deserves the same opportunities to play, learn, and grow, regardless of their abilities or challenges. Our aim is to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where children feel valued, supported, and confident to take part in all aspects of nursery life.
Our practitioners are skilled in identifying when a child may need extra help, whether with communication and language, physical development, social interaction, or emotional well-being. Once identified, we adapt activities, routines, and resources to meet individual needs, ensuring every child can access the curriculum in a way that is meaningful to them. This could mean using visual aids to support understanding, planning small group activities to build confidence, or providing one-to-one support where appropriate.
We also place great emphasis on celebrating every child’s progress, no matter how small. By focusing on individual strengths and achievements, we build self-esteem and help children develop independence, resilience, and a love of learning.
Working Together with Families and Professionals
At Mi Nurseries, we know that the best outcomes for children come from strong partnerships. That’s why we work closely with families to understand their child’s needs, interests, and routines, ensuring consistency between home and nursery. We believe parents are the experts on their child, so we make sure they are actively involved in planning, decision-making, and celebrating progress.
In addition to working with families, we collaborate with external agencies, the local authority, and NHS professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists. This joined-up approach allows us to access specialist advice and resources to further support each child’s learning and development.
Our practitioners regularly attend training to strengthen their understanding of special educational needs and to stay up to date with best practice. We follow the EYFS framework and the SEND Code of Practice to ensure our provision is tailored, effective, and inclusive. By combining professional expertise with parental insight, we create a personalised support plan that ensures children receive the right help at the right time.
At Mi Nurseries, we want every child to feel that they belong, that their voice is heard, and that they are capable of achieving great things. Through collaboration, care, and commitment, we give children the best possible start in life.
